Dorm Rooms

I was going through previous blog posts and found some that I had never posted!  I worked on this one back in the fall when we dropped our daughter CiCi off at Ole Miss.  She is now home for the summer!  Oh well--better late than never!!!

We dropped our second child off at college.  I really can't believe how the time has flown by!  She is attending the University of Mississippi-- our alma mater.  While we are so excited for her, it is very sad for us--the ones left behind.  I think we felt the break-up of our family unit last year when our oldest left for school.  It was really hard for all of us.  This go-around, we were better prepared emotionally.  She has an amazing roommate and we are SO thankful!
Over the years I have been hearing little snippets about the girls' dorm rooms at Ole Miss.  As soon as CiCi figured out where she was going to school, I started googling Ole Miss Dorm Rooms.  Oh. My. Word.  The images that appeared before me made me break out into a cold sweat.  How in the world were we going to make this happen without spending thousands of dollars??  (Insert precious roommate's mom, Julie.)  She was incredible--called us "Dorm-In-Laws."  She has more energy than anyone I know and has the most amazing taste.  The room turned out so well because of her.  Most importantly, the girls just love it!

Before...
After!

Hutches were made for the dorm desks to provide extra storage.

Ready for company!

ALL FINISHED!!!!

  1. Hi! I was looking at dorm room ideas on pinterest and came across your blog!! I absolutely love this room. I will be attending Ole Miss this fall! Anyways, I have been looking for a piece of furniture to put in between our beds that will act as storage and a bed side table. The one pictured above is so cute! Where could I find something similar? Thank you!

    1. Hi Mary--I tried sending this earlier and I don't think it went through. Hotty Toddy and thank you!!! The piece you like was found in Memphis in the back room of Worlds Away. It was a great size and held the girls' printer (a hole was drilled in the back for the cords) a coffee maker, and lots of other things. I found a few options for you (the one from Target is a bit smaller):

  2. I love everything about this! How did you create the lighting under the bottom shelf of the desk hutch?

  3. Hello! I was scrolling through Pinterest and found your daughters dorm room. It's absolutely gorgeous! Where did you purchase the duvet covers? I love the ribbon tie on them, and would love to incorporate that into my dorm room for the fall of 2016. Thanks! Hotty Toddy :)

    Sincerely,
    Cammie d

    1. Hi Cammie--Thanks so much and Hotty Toddy!!! The duvet covers were custom made. We couldn't find anything pre-made that both girls really liked, so we found a fabric they both liked and had them made.

  6. Hello, my roommate and I will be starting at Ole Miss this coming fall! Hotty Toody! And we are in love with your bedding. Where did you get the pink patterned pillow from and the long monogrammed one from? Also where did you get the fabric that you made the comforter out of? Thanks and GO REBELS!
